3RD INTERNATIONAL SESSION
OF SERVITE SCHOOLS
Monte Senario, October 1-6, 2006
Theme: Servite schools in the third milennium
Welcome: Betsy Kirch, bureau coordinator
Welcome to this third meeting of Servite educators: “go teach all nations”.
During these days, we will learn a lot about one another. We have representatives from every continent: 11 nations represented.
Called to learn and to listen to what Jesus has taught us. To learn under the direction of Mary.
To learn through one another, in order to serve our students. We represent here all our young people. Let us pray for them.
A word from Father Giovanni Sperman (prior of the community of Monte Senario)
“In the name of the community of friars and the Servite family, I welcome you.
On a wall of the chapel, we have here a fresco representing the 7 founders ascending Monte Senario.
At the beginning, they are burdened with sacks, then, progressively, they free themselves and discover joy, liberty, for they discover the precious stone which watches over them.
Our first fathers came together to be friends. You are friends. Progressively, in ascending Monte Senario, they discovered fatherhood. They became brothers.
This is the wish I make for each one of you.
We belong to one and the same family.
No one receives this brotherhood without needing to pass it on.
Let us take up again the precious pearl offered to us, to enrich ourselves.
Servite values for education
During the two preceding sessions, we reflected on the Servite values lived and passed on to young people, in our schools.
Together we again take up these values:
marian identity
sense of community, fraternity
service
innovation, openness, respect for diversity
development of the whole person
evangelization
universality
choice for the poor, social, spiritual, human fragility |
