Servite International Educational Conference Meeting

The third meeting of the Servite Educational Conference took place in October in Florence, Italy at Monte Senario.

The Servite International Schools Conference is a gathering of schools from around the world that use the common bond of education in the Servite tradition to build cultural, intellectual and academic relationships between schools and kids from different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, and who live on different continents.

In October, nineteen schools came together from twelve countries to discover our Servite roots and the charism of the Order of Servants of Mary. In all, fifty three religious and lay school adminministrators came together at Monte Senario, where the order bagan. The 2006 Conference was titled "Servite Schools in the Third Millennium: Discovering Roots, Creating Relationships and Developing Links." The goal of the conference was to use our common Servite tradition as a catalyst to:

* Create relationships between schools and their teachers

* Use the Internet and technology to get students from different continents working together on academic and cultural projects

* Help children from diverse nations, and ethnic and economic backgrounds, build working relationships and understand and learn from each other

The Conference will achieved these goals by bringing together top administrators, teachers and technology experts to not only discuss how technology can help bridge geographic and cultural gaps, but actually create projects that can be implemented as the teachers return home. This website was one of the results of that collaborative effort.
